Personal Stories of World War II from in and around Snohomish County.
The Details.
We are putting together a 12 x12 hardcover coffee-table style book with dust jacket, silk-finish pages, a mixture of black & white and color. Approximately 110 pages total, with 2-3 pages dedicated to each veteran. We will be done with the interview/photography portion of our project by February 12, 2010. The book is slotted to go the printer in April. The book is being dedicated to the Snohomish Senior Center on May 22, 2010.
The Dream.
The plan all along has been to dedicate the book to the Snohomish Senior Center and each participant would receive an 8x10 copy of their new portrait. However, we'd like to do more. The veterans have given up so much for us, we want to give back to them. We would like to provide copies of the book to each project participant at the book dedication event.
The Request.
Please consider pre-ordering a book for a participant. The books are being pre-sold at cost until every participant has been gifted a copy. Each book costs $100. There is no profit to us at this rate. Any possible future editions of the book will be different and sold at a separate cost.
The Thank You.
Your gift to a participant will be presented on May 22, 2010. Participants who do not attend the book dedication event may receive a copy of their book by mail along with the name of the person/organization who gave them the gift. To thank you for your investment in the project, you will be invited to share in the festivities as we dedicate the book to the Snohomish Senior Center and celebrate the veteran's service. Also, if you wish to pre-order additional copies of the book at cost ($100) for yourself or others, you may do so. Please note that all book pre-orders must include at least one book to be gifted to a project participant. Finally, your name or company name will be displayed under the "Contributors" tab on this website unless you choose to gift anonymously.
The Deadline.
We need 45 copies for participants. If you are interested in gifting/purchasing a book, please fill out the form below. We need to receive 45 pre-orders by April 20, 2010 in order to make this dream a reality. After we have received the 45th pledge, pre-ordering will close. Please check out our Blog as we countdown the number of books left. Also, please note that If we do not meet our goal of 45 gifted books by April 20, any money designated for a gift book will be fully refunded.
